B-Lay Tong Hotel: Patong Beach, Phuket

The B-Lay Tong Hotel, an M Gallery Hotel, is an eye-catching design hotel in the perfect location at the north of Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand. Details like honey comb shaped mirrors and door numbers adhere to a loose bee theme. The throne in the lobby temporarily dubs those seated in it the King and Queen Bee. The gallery restaurant (The B-hive) features intricate murals by local artists and each room has a unique woven art piece above the bed. The overall feel is trendy and interesting without crossing the line to cheesy, with tailored details extending all the way down to the fitted long sleeve tees and black pants worn by the restaurant’s servers.

The Grounds

The hotel’s unique infinity pool is surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs and the swim up bar serves delicious food. We liked the pizza so much we ordered it twice during our one night stay.

There are lots of places to lounge indoors and out: funky chairs in the check-in area and in a lounge downstairs, a tranquil garden area with artistic outdoor sofas, lounge areas by the pool, and a sun deck set aside from the pool.

The Location

Like we said, B-Lay Tong struck gold with their location. Patong has a reputation for being a serious party town with crowded beaches and noisy tourists. Because it is situated right at the end of the beach, this hotel gets some relief from the crowds and the beach directly across the street had plenty of open sand.

Even though it is located on the busy street, our stay was still quiet. We had especially amazing views of the sunset and the beach from the pool and our room.

The Room

Our room was almost completely white except for the brightly colored art piece above the headboard. We had a big window seat with a view of the pool and a small balcony looking the same direction. Our shower was creatively designed with a complete glass enclosure and full length shades to provide privacy. We had plenty of space, a desk, mini bar and king sized bed.

The Food

The service at the B-Hive was amazing. We had a great time sitting at an outdoor table under the modern wooden tree sculptures. After our delicious Thai dishes, we couldn’t resist the green tea créme brûlée and berry cheesecake. Definitely give both a try.

Breakfast was served on the ground floor, buffet style, in a room with accordion-style window walls looking out into the green garden area. All the food was delicious and they had good coffee.

This is an ideal place to stay if you are looking for a unique hotel near all the hubbub of Patong, but you also want to enjoy some quiet beach time. You don’t need to leave for dinner, but there are plenty of options if you decide to venture out.
