Big News: Our Next Home Base
It has been a busy few months here at Poplar Travels and now we finally get to share our plans for our next adventure! Last year, we started this journey by leaving Washington, D.C., with one-way tickets to Thailand. Our plan didn’t extend beyond our 6-month lease, and when it was up we started on a tour of Southeast Asia starting with two weeks in Vietnam followed by Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The past five weeks have absolutely flown by and we have so many stories to share. We stayed in an amazing selection of some of Asia’s top hotels and explored some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. So, what’s next?
Well, Poplar Travels is about to relocate to a new home base. That’s right, we are moving again. Five weeks on the road has been an amazing time, but we like having somewhere to call home, even if it’s temporary. Living out of a suitcase is a great adventure, but we are looking forward to a new kind of challenge. We’re putting the knowledge we’ve gained on our travels and while staying in these fine establishments to use.
We are moving to the beautiful Shenandoah region of Virginia to open a luxury Bed and Breakfast called Walden Hall!
Back to the USA for Poplar Travels! With five guest rooms, a pool, an event barn and a pond, our new rural home is vastly different from anywhere else we have lived. We are looking forward to having a garden, a kitchen and cows as neighbors.
The best part is, we get to welcome fellow travelers from all over the world to stay with us in the heart of Virginia wine country. Next time you travel through the States (or if you are there already), be sure to make us a stop on your route. Walden Hall is in Reva, Virginia, about one and a half hours from D.C. and will open in May.
America is calling our name for now, but don’t worry there will be plenty of travels as well. We look forward to exploring more of our home country, hopefully making a trip to Europe and bringing a taste of the South to Poplar Travels this year. We are also looking forward to being close to Washington again, one of our favorite cities on the planet.
You can expect to see more luxury recommendations, travel tips and cultural encounters on Poplar Travels, especially as we continue to fill you in on our experiences over the past month.
We are heading back to the States in just a few days (!) but first, we are stopping back through Chiang Mai for Songkran. Celebrating the Thai New Year with water fights at one of the largest festivals in Southeast Asia sounds like a great way to say “Goodbye for now” to our Thai home!
