Exploring Life In Columbus

As you already know I am always looking out for the next best thing in unique travel experiences. Since I’ve planted shallow roots in the USA for the next few years with the Walden Hall project, I’ve shifted my focus from Asia to a little closer to home. This coming August I will be heading to Columbus, Ohio to check out their booming craft brewery and distillery scene.

I had not realized until recently how much culture is packed into Columbus. Dozens of music and art events are held every year throughout downtown. There are many visual art theaters located throughout the city where many renowned performing arts institutions, including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and Opera, perform on a regular basis. A number of smaller venues downtown put on smaller cultural events year round and often feature popular musicians. Needless to say, I will have plenty to do and see during my visit!

The Columbus fashion scene is just as impressive. Columbus was recently ranked as one of the world’s top fashion cities with the number of fashion designers per capita rivaling that of Los Angeles or New York! Columbus College of Art and Design has one of the nation’s leading fashion programs so I will have to see if I can catch a fashion show while I am there.

The city’s craft brewery scene has really taken off in the past few years and I will definitely be taking part in a brew tour to try and fit in as many beer tastings as possible during my visit to Columbus. Perhaps I’ll follow the Columbus Ale Trail and go on a true beer adventure. Recently I’ve taken an interest in homebrewing and learning more about beer in general. This trip will be a perfect opportunity to expand my knowledge and share the true Columbus experience.

Be sure to follow my upcoming travels in August on the blog!

Eric left Washington, D.C. to travel the world starting with Chiang Mai, Thailand. He enjoys peaty scotch, long walks on the beach (or up mountains) and most sports or activities with potential risk of injury or death.
