Peak Spa And Beauty Salon, Chiang Mai Review

Peak Spa is located in the Night Bazaar neighborhood of Chiang Mai. It sits on a quiet alley directly next to the large Shangri-La hotel. Peak spa is a day spa, full service beauty salon and hair salon.

We were picked up in the morning and driven to the spa in a new shuttle car. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and sat down to discuss the spa treatment schedule for the day. The reception and waiting areas have large glass walls that give off a modern spacious feel and the warm lighting was welcoming.

Eric chose the Power Stones Massage package and Evanne chose the Peak treatment package. The Power Stones Massage is 2.5 hours and consist of a hot oil and hot stone massage with deep cleansing facial at the end. The Peak package is also 2.5 hours, but includes a body scrub, hot oil massage and herbal refresher facial package.

After we chose our treatments, we were given a choice of scented oils and body scrubs to choose from. We both chose a relaxing oil and Evanne went with a yogurt and coffee scrub. We didn’t get any advice on which were best for certain skin types, so we just chose based on scent.

The treatment rooms are dark and cozy with flickering candles and tasteful decorations. The face pillows seemed to contour to Eric’s chin and forehead more comfortably than at  most other spas. The treatments were great, Eric’s hot stone massage was warm and soothing and the stones were never too hot to the touch. Evanne’s body scrub was a little cold and she was shivering by then end, but the rest of the Peak package was very relaxing. The herbal facial was wonderfully scented. We both felt that our skin looked and felt great after the treatments!

We noticed that this spa was a little less concerned with modesty than others have been. It was never uncomfortable by any means, but it may have been a little nerve-racking for someone experiencing a full spa treatment for the first time.

In addition to the massage rooms, there is a full service salon in the main building. After our massages, we were each treated to a haircut. The stylist was very skilled and did a great job of thinning and cutting Evanne’s thick hair. She did exactly what we both described even though neither of us had reference photos.

Overall our treatments were great and we would definitely return for our next haircuts in Chiang Mai. Peak Spa often offers discounted packages and specials on their website so be sure to check it out!
