The DROID Turbo by Motorola (Pushing The Limits Of Smartphone Photography)

I love travel photography. You probably already know this from my previous posts but I often take between five hundred to a thousand photos a day while traveling. Ever since my last long term excursion I have been upgrading my travel photography gear to keep up with the growth of Poplar Travels and as I hone my travel photography skills, I am always looking for the newest and best thing to add to my travel bag.

DROID Turbo 3

About a month ago I reviewed a phone that, at the time, was the newest and greatest smartphone with a high powered camera. Just a few weeks later a new phone has come to my attention and completely blown me away. The DROID Turbo by Motorola in Gray Ballistic Nylon is the newest smartphone powerhouse boasting a 21 megapixel camera. This is the same resolution as my high end mirror-less camera and close to that of my DSLR!

So you can get the full idea of how impressive the DROID Turbo really is, lets go over the specs. In addition to the 21 megapixel camera, the DROID Turbo has 4k video capabilities.  That’s impressive, especially if you are particular to details. It’s got a dual-LED flash which allows for an smooth bright flash great for low light events or in dark rooms. The DROID Turbo also has slow motion capabilities, panorama shots, photo burst mode and auto HDR.

When I first picked up the phone I noticed the unique woven backing on the case. This woven coating is actually a mixture of ballistic nylon and Kevlar. This, combined with the Corning Gorilla Glass on the front,  adds an extremely high level of protection to the DROID Turbo. It is especially nice that a high end smartphone already comes with protection from scratches and drops so I don’t have to add a bulky case to the sleek design.

The camera alone has convinced me to purchase one for my travel kit. The ultra fast processor, protective exterior and unique accent colors are great as well.
