The Nam Hai Review
The Nam Hai in Vietnam is expertly designed and laid out to create a peaceful atmosphere along a pristine stretch of white sandy beach. The resort sits on a sprawling 35 hectares of lush land with 100 villas from one to five bedrooms. The Nam Hai is located only eleven kilometers north of Hoi An on a private beach with three large elevated infinity pools each with views of the ocean and nearby Cham Islands.
The resort has a unique design that allows the majority of the villas to have beach access. There are three gorgeous infinity pools that stretch down the center all the way to the beach. The step-like design creates a stunning view from the open air lobby.
The spa features individual treatment villas each with a relaxation and bathing parlor extending out over a serene pond. The open wall creates a feeling of total isolation and utter calm, making this one of the best spas in Southeast Asia.
There are also tennis courts, a recreation center, library, a full gym, a kids center and an organic garden on the grounds. We tasted juicy tomatoes off the vine and watched as workers washed and prepared herbs. Daily activities provide fun cultural experiences and yoga and meditation classes are held every morning.
We loved the design of our one bedroom villa. The same three-step design of the central pools is used in the villas; the bathtub, bed and living room are on descending levels so the view of sand and ocean is uninterrupted throughout. The bathtub at the center of the room, the white curtain surrounding the bed and the indoor and outdoor showers add romance to the accommodation. Our bathroom was spacious and had his and hers vanity areas and separate closets. A unique workspace included a desk with seating recessed into the floor and a lounge area.
Outside, our patio with a view of the beach had two day beds which made the perfect place to relax and slowly wake up. We walked right off the patio into the soft sand and could make our way along the beach to breakfast or the pool.
The Nam Hai’s pool villas have 1-5 bedrooms, a private pool looking out towards the ocean, personal butler service and a private courtyard entrance. The bedrooms feature the same design as the other villas, or a slight variation better suited for families. They make the perfect setting for a family getaway or a group of couples.
The restaurants line the pools and serve traditional Vietnamese and Western cuisine. We visited the Beach Restaurant for dinner and enjoyed a delicious meal of whole sea bass and bamboo chicken with traditional Vietnamese music softly playing in the background. The outdoor seating is beautiful with up-lit trees and a view of the ocean.
Breakfast included a very impressive buffet with pastries, meat and cheese, yogurt and cereal, as well as a bloody Mary and mimosa bar. Hot items were served a la carte and included Eggs Benedict, sausage and bacon, omelets and french toast.
The Nam Hai offers ultimate luxury on a beautiful, quiet piece of land only a quick drive from the main part of Hoi An. The service is wonderful, and we were always addressed by name. The resort was at high occupancy when we were there but we hardly saw any other guests. Due to the amazing villas, huge beach and variety of activities, no area ever gets crowded. Dining can even be arranged on the beach or at the pool villas for extra privacy. The Nam Hai would be a prime honeymoon destination or a great spot for a family vacation. Ultimate romance and relaxation in the beautiful villas and top notch spa plus countless activities for all ages give the Nam Hai mass appeal.
